What to expect during the visit and procedure

FORMS TO COMPLETE:

  • Once the veterinarian arrives, paperwork will need to be completed.

  • If you have never visited our hospital, a new client registration form will need to be filled out.

  • If you have scheduled during normal business hours, we can email the form to you prior to the visit and give you an opportunity to complete it prior to the doctor’s arrival.

  • A euthanasia consent form giving us permission to perform the procedure will also need to be filed.

THE PROCEDURE

You have the option of sedating your pet before the euthanasia solution is administered. Once your pet is appropriately prepared, an injection will be given in the vein allowing your pet to peacefully go to “sleep.”

After the Procedure

  • If you are taking care of your pet’s burial, the veterinarian will quietly depart at this time.

  • If you would like us to take care of your pet after the procedure there are a few options; including, taking your pet and not returning their remains or having your pet cremated where the remains are returned to you.

  • The doctor will need to transport your pet back to our facilities for appropriate handling.

    • If your pet is greater than 50 pounds, please have someone available to assist with lifting and loading into the hospital vehicle.

  • Cremation services are available and are based on the patient’s weight. Please call the clinic for prices and more details on cremation package options.
